The college runs sports academies in partnership with local clubs to give students the chance to develop their skills and prepare to play at a professional level, whilst completing a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport.
CUFC Shadow Scholarship
We are proud to work in partnership with Cambridge United Football Club on their Shadow Scholarship scheme for boys aged 16-19. The Shadow Scholarship offers talented footballers the chance to receive both regular professional coaching from UEFA level coaches, and a first class education to open further opportunities such as university.
The Shadow Scholarship has been running for four years and has already proved successful, with a record number of students going onto university and higher education as a result of the course last year. The scheme has also given opportunities for students to coach within the Cambridge United youth development system at Soccer Centres, Soccer Schools, Regional Development Centres and even at Shadow Academy level.
CUFC Futsal Academy
Our successful Futsal Academy is run in partnership with Cambridge United Football Club and provides aspiring young footballers the opportunity to train and play with the club. The futsal education programme combines studying full-time for a Level 3 Diploma in Sport at CRC with regular futsal training and the chance to represent United in a national league in the fast-growing game.

“I want to be a professional footballer and work towards being a coach. That’s why I have chosen this course – it provides so many pathways.”
