Getting To College & Transport

Getting to Cambridge Regional College has never been easier!


Route Planning

Cambridge Regional College runs its own contract bus services for our full time students. The service picks up from 68 different towns and villages in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk (see our prospectus or the timetable for details) Routes may be subject to change in 2011.

All routes are timed to arrive at the College prior to 08:45 and depart at 16:15 after lessons finish. The bus service will operate during term time only.

Charges for a 2010-11 bus pass to use this service are £420 per academic year if paid in full in advance or £450 if paid in instalments (£150 deposit and 3 monthly direct debit payments of £100). Direct Debit Form

A free pass is available to those students who are both under 19 and whose families are in receipt of certain income-based benefits. See the notes with the Bus Pass Application form or call for details.

Changes to the Bus Timetable for 2010/11


Route 12 now include Cottenham and Histon

Route 9 leaves earlier from Bassingbourn. Please refer to 2010/11 timetable.

College Shuttle Bus Services

Cambridge Regional College runs its own shuttle bus between the Science Park Campus, Cambridge Railway Station, New Square in the City Centre. Please see timetable below:

Public Bus Services

For Public Bus timetables go to the Cambridgeshire County Council Web site

If you are unable to use the College Contract Buses because you do not live near one of the College bus routes, you could be eligible for assistance with public bus transport costs. However, in order to qualify for this you need to live more than 3 miles from the College.

For a “Cambridgeshire County Council Assistance with Post 16 Education Transport Costs” Booklet and Application Form please write to Martin Amis, Transport Manager, Cambridge Regional College, King Hedges Road, Cambridge CB4 2QT and enclose an A5 stamped addressed envelope.

If you live in Suffolk

For those who live in Suffolk, phone Suffolk County Council Education Transport Services on 01473 265070 for information and an Application Form for Discretionary Travel Assistance for post 16 Students.



Public Train Services

Scholar Train Season tickets are available from the two train operating companies that provide trains to Cambridge. Stations covered and ticket purchase information.

If you live in Cambridgeshire, you could be eligible for assistance with train costs.

Cycling

If you live Cambridgeshire and live over 3 miles from the College you can claim £40 per term. A Claim Form for cycling allowance needs to be completed at the end of each term. They are available from Reception.

College Car Share Scheme

Sign up to the College Car Share Scheme - reduce your bills and carbon footprint

The College has a private car share scheme to match CRC Staff making similar journeys to work. The more people who sign up to the database the more chance of a match with your journey and so allows you to consider sharing with another member of Staff. Contact Martin Amis, transport/Assistant Services Manager with any questions.
