The Recruitment Process

Applying For a Job

Each job advert has links to a full job description, application form and application notes. If you wish to apply for a post you can either complete the application form online or download it for offline completion. We recommend that you read the application notes carefully prior to completing the application form.

Application forms can be emailed to: jobs@camre.ac.uk

Or posted to: The Human Resources Department, Cambridge Regional College, Science Park Campus, Kings Hedges Road, Cambridge, CB4 2QT.

Notification of outcomes

It is our policy that we only notify candidates who have been shortlisted for interview. Therefore if you have not heard from us within four weeks of the closing date for a post please assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

Please note, if you provide us with an email address on your application form, correspondence may be sent via email i.e. invitation for interview.

Equal Opportunities Monitoring

To ensure that we are treating applicants and our staff fairly, we ask people to tell us their age, gender, marital status, ethnic origin, religion and sexual orientation.  We do this so that we can monitor whether the College is inadvertently creating any barriers and to ensure there is no discrimination in our practices. This information is collected and held confidentially by the HR Department and is not made available to those involved in the short-listing or interviewing process.

We appreciate that there may be some information which you do not wish to provide and we completely understand this. However, we would encourage you to do so where you feel that you can, as this helps us to be a better employer.

Selection Methods

In addition to the application form and references, we try to use a variety of selection methods as part of the selection process. The methods used vary by post as we tailor each assessment process to the needs and underpinning criteria of the role. Methods may include (but are not necessarily limited to) one or more of the following:

  • Presentation
  • Micro teach (teaching a group of students)
  • Word processing exercise
  • Prioritisation and workload management exercise
  • Simulated group exercise
  • Psychometric test(s)
  • Report writing
  • Other selection methods as appropriate

Job Offers

All job offers are made subject to the satisfactory completion of pre- employment checks which includes satisfactory references, medical questionnaire and clearance from the Criminal Records Bureau.

Feedback

If at any time during the process you would like some feedback on the current status of your application, please call the HR team and we will be happy to provide it. We may also ask if we can keep your details on file, just in case a suitable vacancy arises in the future.

Safeguarding

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all job candidates, staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
