Festival of Achievement 2009

Star Students Bask in College’s Awards Ceremony

Cambridge Regional College held its 11th annual Festival of Achievement on Tuesday 23 June 2009 in the College's newly built sports hall.

The awards ceremony is the highlight of the College's calendar, and celebrated the successes and achievements of students across the whole College. Chris Paveley, Chairman of the Learning Skills Council for the Eastern Region and Chairman of the Uniter group, was guest speaker at the event and presented awards to successful students.

The Festival of Achievement is an opportunity for the College to recognise and celebrate the extensive achievements of students for their hard work and effort over the past year. Around 90 full and part-time students were presented with certificates and prizes during the ceremony.

Students are nominated for the awards by their tutors and put forward for selection by a panel of judges.  Winners of individual Academy Awards are then put forward for the prestigious “Full Time Learner of the Year” and “Part Time Learner of the Year” prizes.  This year the “Aaron Cook Memorial Award for Endeavour” was presented in memory of our Student Governor who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Principal of Cambridge Regional College, Rick Dearing said, “Cambridge Regional College is a true learning organisation, committed to providing the best possible quality of learning for all.  We week to nurture a culture of achievement, in which students experiences are valued and their skills and progress celebrated.  The awards presented are a reflection of the many difference levels of achievement by students in developing a wide range of skills and gaining qualifications.  Our award winners represent full-time, part-time, group, international and apprenticeship categories from all areas”.
