With environmental matters playing an ever-increasing role in the modern economy, ' green careers' are on the rise.
Cambridge Regional College is at the forefront of 'green' education, leading the way with a series of ground-breaking initiatives to teach sustainability to students, apprentices and even householders.
Experts predict a huge boom in green jobs over the next five years, with up to 100,000 new posts expected to be created – providing plenty of opportunities for those with qualifications in the sector.

Top of the agenda at CRC is a new two-year BTEC Extended Diploma in Environmental Sustainability which has been established after close liaison with industry. It will help provide the practical environmentalists of the future – specialists in water pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, waste management, facilities management and local authority environmental control.
The new SmartLIFE Low Carbon Centre, part of The Hive education and enterprise park, is where CRC will be teaching the workforce skills needed for a greener future.
The College already teaches sustainable methods of construction, and is the only one in the country offering Modern Methods of Construction training covering timber frame, light gauge steel frame and concrete polar wall.
