Job Centre Plus

Building blocks has been set up to give individuals who have been out of work for six months or more the qualifications, training and support they need to enable them to get back into employment.


To be eligible you must be signed on with the Job Centre and have been unemployed for six months or more. You can then be referred to CRC for an initial interview where we discuss the courses that are of interest to you in relation to your short and long term plans for future employment.

All courses are run by professional tutors who train in a specific area so you can be assured you will get the very best training available.

We have a wide range of courses set up ranging from Basic Food Hygiene certificates to CSCS courses which will enable you to seek employment in the construction industry. We are also adding new courses all time to meet the diverse needs of the local employment market.

Courses we are currently running are:

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificates (1 Day)
  • ITQ & Employability Skills (3 Days)
  • Introduction to management (3 Days)
  • CSCS (1 Day)
  • SIA Door Supervision (4 Days)
  • Electrical Appreciation (3 Days)
  • Induction to Plumbing (3 Days)
  • Health & Safety in the workplace (1 Day)
  • Personal License for the sale of Alcohol (3 Days)
  • First Aid (1 Day)

Others courses that will set up in the future include Forklift Licenses, Introduction to Care and Business Administration. If any of these courses are of interest to you please speak to your Job Centre Plus Personal Adviser and they will arrange an initial interview at the college for you then you are only a few steps away from gaining the qualifications you need to help you to return to employment.
