New Apprenticeship Academy offers job opportunities in Huntingdon
A new apprenticeship academy has been launched in Huntingdon to provide great new job opportunities for young people.
Huntingdonshire District Council has joined forces with Cambridge Regional College to find and train apprentices to work across the heart of local government – from the IT department to the community services centre.
Applications for the first 10 apprenticeships are now open, with shortlisted applicants due to be invited to a special assessment day at HDC in the week beginning 16 October, where they will also have a chance to find out more about the roles on offer.
The apprentices will study for a nationally-recognised Level 2 qualification in Business Administration during their 15-month apprenticeship, training in the workplace with input from CRC’s experienced assessors, and earning £14,500 a year.
Debbie McArthur, head of business development at Cambridge Regional College, said it was a great opportunity for young people.
“We are delighted to be working with Huntingdonshire District Council in this new initiative. The Apprenticeship Academy offers great opportunities for young people who want to earn and learn at the same time, gaining work experience and a very valuable qualification,” she said.
“They will be working at the heart of their community, helping the council provide its vital services to local residents.”
HDC Councillor Stephen Cawley said the apprentices would play a valuable role throughout the council.
“For young people who want to kick start their careers at a very exciting time in local government we are offering unique opportunities to work in an extensive range of departments, putting our customers first. We have opportunities available in our IT department, HR, accountancy, marketing, planning, leisure and lots more,” he said.
“The successful applicants will work and learn in one of our departments and get involved in projects spanning across the council – including our transformation project which is looking at ways of improving the way we work and deliver services to the residents of Huntingdon.”
Applicants don’t need any previous qualifications – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. To find out more about the vacancies, contact Debbie McArthur at Cambridge Regional College on 01223 226361 or email email@example.com
